Text messages
Church Assistant volunteer texts · Effective 3 September 2026
Church Assistant helps churches coordinate volunteers. If you volunteer at a church that uses it, and you opt in, your church can reach you by text for scheduling: "Are you available Sunday?", a reminder the week before, and a confirmation once you've answered. That's the whole program — no marketing, no fundraising.
Who sends the texts
Texts are sent by Verble B.V. (the company behind Church Assistant) on your church's behalf, from a Church Assistant number. Every message names your church so you always know who is asking.
What a message looks like
How to opt in
- On your volunteer page. Every availability email links to your personal volunteer page. Tick "Text me volunteer requests and reminders", confirm your mobile number, and you're in.
- By replying YES. If your church marks you as preferring texts, we send one message asking you to reply YES. Nothing else is sent until you do.
When you opt in you'll get a confirmation text. We record when and how you opted in, and the number it applies to.
How to opt out
Reply STOP to any message. You'll get one final text confirming you've opted out, and no further texts. Your church can still reach you by email if you've given them an address. To opt back in, reply START.
