Terms of Service
Effective 24 August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you (the church or person using Church Assistant) and Verble B.V., registered in the Netherlands. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
1. What Church Assistant is
Church Assistant is an AI-powered assistant that helps churches coordinate volunteers: organising events, asking volunteers about their availability by email or text message, tracking responses, and sending reminders. The service is in active development and features may change, improve, or be withdrawn as it evolves.
2. Your account
Keep your sign-in credentials safe; you are responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate information, and let us know if something is wrong. You must be authorised to act for the church you register.
3. Messages sent on your behalf, and your volunteers' data
The service sends email to your volunteers — from your connected Gmail account or from an address we provision for your church — and, for volunteers who have opted in, text messages from a Church Assistant number (see the text messaging program below). By using it you confirm that:
- you have the right to share the volunteer contact details you add, and a lawful basis to contact those people about serving at your church;
- you will use the service for genuine church coordination — not for marketing blasts, unrelated solicitation, or spam;
- you will honour requests from volunteers who ask not to be contacted.
For personal data your church adds about volunteers and congregants, the church is the data controller and we process that data on your behalf, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Text messaging program (SMS)
Church Assistant volunteer texts deliver volunteer scheduling requests, reminders, and confirmations from a church to volunteers who have opted in. Messages are sent by Verble B.V. through Church Assistant on the church's behalf, from a Church Assistant number, and always name the church.
- Opting in. Volunteers opt in by ticking the text-message box on their personal volunteer page, or by replying YES to a one-time opt-in request. By opting in you agree to receive recurring automated text messages at the number you provided. Consent is not a condition of volunteering.
- Frequency. Varies with your church's schedule — typically 2 to 6 messages per month.
- Cost. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opting out. Reply STOP to any message at any time. You will receive one final text confirming you have opted out, and no further texts.
- Help. Reply HELP to any message, or email hello@churchassistant.app.
- Carriers. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Churches. You may only enable texts for volunteers who have agreed to receive them, and only for volunteer coordination — never for marketing or fundraising.
Full program details: churchassistant.app/sms. Privacy: Privacy Policy — text messages.
4. AI-generated content
The assistant drafts messages and answers using AI. AI output can be wrong or incomplete — review what it produces before you rely on it. Messages the assistant drafts are sent only after you approve them, and you are responsible for the messages you approve.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use the service to break the law, to harm others, to send unsolicited bulk email, to probe or disrupt our systems, or to build a competing product from our service. We may suspend accounts that do.
6. Fees
Church Assistant is currently free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, we will give you clear notice before anything is charged, and continuing to use paid features will require choosing a plan.
7. Your data, our service
Your church's data stays yours. You give us the permission needed to host and process it in order to run the service. The service itself — its software, design, and name — belongs to Verble B.V. You can export your data or ask us to delete it at any time.
8. Availability and disclaimers
We work hard to keep the service reliable, but it is provided "as is", without warranties of uninterrupted availability or error-free operation. Email deliverability also depends on third parties (Google, recipient mail servers) outside our control.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €100 if you have paid nothing. We are not liable for indirect damages such as lost data, lost profits, or missed volunteer shifts. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
10. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonable. On deletion, we remove your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; for material changes we will notify you before they take effect. These terms are governed by Dutch law, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands.
